What do you get when you combine a breathtakingly beautiful location, two crazy-talented, musical families, and a couple who are madly in love? Nick and Kate’s wedding ceremony!
Nick and Kate’s ceremony was straight out of a movie – my all time favorite movie. You all know the scene – Marie, soon to be Von Traap, ascends the epicly long aisle to the sounds of an ethereal wedding march. The Sound of Music‘s herione is radiating joy and we are all enraptured in the splendor of the moment.
The aisle might not have been as long as Maria’s Austrian abbey aisle, but the music – glorious, heavenly music – the joy inexplicable and the overflowing of emotion: it was all there. And then there was Kate’s face, her spirited, yet completely serene, resplendent face – aglow as she’s soaking in the moment when one her deepest longings is fulfilled. I. Love. It.
Every bit of it.
I realize that this post might seem over-the-top. But that’s how I feel about the whole experience of the day: over-the-top happy about it all.
Kate and Nick, through your wedding I got to relive the Von Traap wedding. I can’t thank you enough for letting me capture a glimpse of the transcendental beauty of your wedding day.

I loved these details. Nick is a professional organist so we photographed the rings on the organ.
Kate and her father have such a beautiful relationship.
This is the same church that Nick’s parents, grandparents, and great grand parents were married in. Priceless!!!
Some of my favorite parts of the ceremony were the smells of the incense and the amazing voice of Kate’s 18 year old sister singing Ave Maria.
Married!!!!
Kate is the oldest of 6 siblings. She and her siblings were a blast together.
Here’s Kate and her grandfather on the left. I can’t get enough of this picture.
We took one last formal picture in the church and then headed out into the beautiful October sunshine.
Kate, you are magnificent!
I love the deep admiration in Kate’s eyes as she gazes at her beloved.
Hurray for the landscape of autumn!!!
We then headed down the road to one of Bedford County’s famous covered bridges.
What a beautiful couple!!!
Gotta love these shoes…
One of my favorite aspects of photographing Kate and Nick is the laughter…. lots of laughter!
And here is Kate with her girls… and, of course, more laughter.
The entrance
Kate and her sister are crazy close. Her sister gave an amazing toast including anecdotes about when she and Kate would play bride and groom as kids. I love it!
Here are two of Kate’s sisters. The tenderness between them made me all teary eyed.
The first dance
Days prior to the wedding there was a dance challenge put forth. So here are some of the shots from the dance off. Kate’s little sister had some serious ballet moves.
Father and daughter, mother and son: two of my favorite parts of a wedding day
And finally, but not surprisingly, more laughter : )
