Year in Review

This has been a fabulous year!!!  Thank you so much to all of my amazing clients.  I feel so priveledged to have shared in your wedding day.  For my final post of the year I wanted to include some of my favorite wedding memories taken from 2010.

Merry Christmas, Internet!  And have a glorious New Year.

Thanksgiving

The Thanksgiving table at my parents’ cozy home in New Jersey has grown over the years.  There have been changes.  Nowadays the sippy cups almost outnumber the wine glasses.  The food is much improved of late since my sister-in-law (with her brined Turkeys, pumkin cheesecakes, and sourdough stuffing) has taken over the operation.

But some things have remained the same.

My only brother Brandon’s teasing – teasing me because he loves me.  And he knows that’s the way I feel loved.

My mother’s gracious and abounding hospitality – Can I get you more water?  Do you need more potatoes?  How about a cup of tea?

And my father’s Thanksgiving prayer as he sits next to Mom holding her hand after 33 years of marriage.  Dad prays and thanks our Lord for the blessings this year that we know about.  And for the blessings given us that we don’t even realize we have been blessed with.

These are beautiful days – holding hands for prayer days.  Eating pumpkin cheesecake days.  Laughing at each others jokes days.  I’m thankful days.

Christina! Your pictures are so beautiful! We loved our wedding and family pictures you took for us. We always get compliments on the pictures we had framed and are on display in our living room. I often log onto your website and I am always impressed with the new pictures you have taken. Keep up the great work!

To my daughter, Daniella, on her 8th birthday

Daniella,

You love the crimson of a robin’s breast,

the serenity and warmth of our woodburning stove,

the view from a mountain top,

the soft touch of a newborn baby.

You love ballet, classical music, quietness, and the colors of autumn.

I didn’t train this into you.

I didn’t tell you what BEAUTIFUL is.

It runs DEEP.  IN.  YOU.

You now have eight years in your past and, Lord willing, many more to come.  My prayer for you is the craziness and clutter of this life would not cloud out your enjoyment of Purity.  Simplicity.  Loveliness.

Kate and Nick – Altoona, PA wedding photographer

What do you get when you combine a breathtakingly beautiful location, two crazy-talented, musical families, and a couple who are madly in love?  Nick and Kate’s wedding ceremony!

Nick and Kate’s ceremony was straight out of a movie – my all time favorite movie.  You all know the scene  – Marie, soon to be Von Traap, ascends the epicly long aisle to the sounds of an ethereal wedding march.  The Sound of Music‘s herione is radiating joy and we are all enraptured in the splendor of the moment.

The aisle might not have been as long as Maria’s Austrian abbey aisle, but the music – glorious, heavenly music – the joy inexplicable and the overflowing of emotion: it was all there.  And then there was Kate’s face, her spirited, yet completely serene, resplendent face – aglow as she’s soaking in the moment when one her deepest longings is fulfilled.  I. Love. It.

Every bit of it.

I realize that this post might seem over-the-top.  But that’s how I feel about the whole experience of the day: over-the-top happy about it all.

Kate and Nick, through your wedding I got to relive the Von Traap wedding.  I can’t thank you enough for letting me capture a glimpse of the transcendental beauty of your wedding day.

I loved these details.  Nick is a professional organist so we photographed the rings on the organ.

Kate and her father have such a beautiful relationship.

This is the same church that Nick’s parents, grandparents, and great grand parents were married in.   Priceless!!!

Some of my favorite parts of the ceremony were the smells of the incense and the amazing voice of Kate’s 18 year old sister singing Ave Maria.

Kate is the oldest of 6 siblings.  She and her siblings were a blast together.

Here’s Kate and her grandfather on the left.  I can’t get enough of this picture.

We took one last formal picture in the church and then headed out into the beautiful October sunshine.

I love the deep admiration in Kate’s eyes as she gazes at her beloved.

Hurray for the landscape of autumn!!!

We then headed down the road to one of Bedford County’s famous covered bridges.

One of my favorite aspects of photographing Kate and Nick is the laughter…. lots of laughter!

And here is Kate with her girls… and, of course, more laughter.

Kate and her sister are crazy close.  Her sister gave an amazing toast including anecdotes about when she and Kate would play bride and groom as kids.  I love it!

Here are two of Kate’s sisters.  The tenderness between them made me all teary eyed.

The first dance

Days prior to the wedding there was a dance challenge put forth.  So here are some of the shots from the dance off.  Kate’s little sister had some serious ballet moves.

Mike and Jessica – Altoona, PA wedding photography

Fall has come to Central Pennsylvania in all its magnificence.  I find myself scrambling to get engagement sessions photographed in the 3 week window of autumn colors.
